Clare resides in the Newberry Caldera with her husband, pack of plain shifting animals, and a posey of hearses. (What's the correct name for a group of hearses?)
Nature, death, animals, rocks, and dreams are a great inspiration for her works. When not rock hounding, gaming, staring at trees, or tarot reading, she is taking the weird things in her head and putting them down on paper with paint, key, or ink. Clare decided to create art when she was just a little snot because it was a wonderful way to show people the world of stories in her head. (No one believed her otherwise.) Her love of traditional art comes from her (master) oil painter mother, and her adventurous themes are largely inspired by her equally adventurous dad. Antarctica, birds of prey, nature, and mysticism play a big role in her work, as their wonders like to whisper to her as she walks through lightly trodden paths of dust, brush, and bones, collaborating with the lost things, wayward Valkyries, and the occasional chaos magician. After several years of study in the desert, Clare has emerged from a forgotten cave. The cobwebs and bones brushed off, Clare now brings forward some things she discovered there. (But maybe shouldn’t have.) |
Clare is the author and illustrator of:
The Meadowlark Saga - a series about a family with a predisposition to see ghosts, the future, and control the dead with music. Antrica - a YA adventure saga about an alternate word of Shackleton. Complete with monsters, myths, and forgotten gods. This Art Book Sucks - a drawing series of painful pointers on becoming a better artist. The Navigator - a space-farce comic of astronomical mayhem. Clare is an accomplished oil painter and has prints of her work for sale at shows and online. She has won awards in art, film, and journalism, and was a painter on the 2015 Further Bus re-vamp. She is a collaborator in the art duo The Valkyries of Morpheus, and attends shows and Comic Cons around the Pacific Northwest.
